Parents as Teachers

Parents as Teachers is a FREE program offered by USD 464 to families with children age birth to three. PAT equips parents with the tools they need to tap into their child's natural ability to learn. Participants in PAT enjoy regular play groups and activities, as well as one-to-one home visits for a truly individualized focus on the child's stages of development. The program also includes basic vision, hearing, and developmental screenings at the different critical stages.

Program Components
Personalized Visits to help you learn about child development, how your child's brain is developing, talk about concerns, ask questions, and share the joys and frustrations of parenting.

  • Playgroups where children can learn to play with others and try new activities and parents can meet and share experiences.
  • Regular Developmental Screenings to reassure you of your child's progress and to help identify potential problems.
  • Resource Network that can help parents find services in their community.
